Advanced recycler PureCycle Technologies Inc., Orlando, Florida, has completed a third-party audit and achieved the Association of Plastic Recyclers’ (APR’s) postconsumer resin (PCR) certification for the company’s primary grade of PureFive resin, HPP15-100. The certification verifies that the resin was manufactured from postconsumer sources.
PureCycle's HPP15-100 grade of PureFive resin is the primary material produced at the company’s Ironton, Ohio, facility, and also is the base recycled content used in all blends of the company’s compounded resin grades.

The company says these grades have been of “high interest” to customers looking for a one-pellet solution that can work in applications where it has otherwise been difficult to introduce recycled content.
“As proud members of the Association of Plastic Recyclers, it’s great to have this certification that validates the source of our recycled content,” PureCycle CEO Dusin Olson says. “A reliable, transparent market for postconsumer material is a critical step in building a circular economy and reducing plastic waste. We’ve seen an increasing demand from our customers for third-party certifications, such as APR’s, and we expect this certification to assist in the ongoing commercialization of our PureFive resin.”
Washington-based APR’s certification provides third-party validation from ISO-accredited certifying bodies that a company has met the necessary requirements to ensure their resin comes from postconsumer sources. PureCycle says this provides transparency to both buyers and sellers and supports a reliable, robust postconsumer resin market.
“APR commends PureCycle for taking action to certify their resin,” APR President and CEO Steve Alexander says. “Their ability to use a novel, dissolution process to transform postconsumer waste into high-quality recycled content will only strengthen the PCR market.
"A strong PCR market is essential to the success of recycling, which enables the circular economy and reduces plastic waste, natural resource extraction and greenhouse gas emissions. The APR PCR certification program adheres to a clear, consistent definition of PCR and ensures that PCR receives the value it deserves.”
