RISI, a Boston-based information provider for the global forest products industry, has incorporated the publication Official Board Markets (OBM) into its publication, PPI Pulp & Paper Week (PPW). PPW says it plans to leverage the addition of OBM’s resources and content to improve the accuracy of recovered paper price reporting and to expand its coverage of the paperboard market.
"PPW has been providing intelligence on the paperboard and recovered paper markets for more than 30 years,” says Todd Petracek, vice president of RISI's News, Markets and Prices division. “RISI already has the paper industry's largest team of professional journalists. By combining resources with OBM, we gain access to even more industry contacts. The end result will be news and price coverage that is even more accurate and insightful.”
Since its acquisition of OBM in early May, RISI has been engaged in a dialogue with the industry to determine how to better meet the market's needs without sacrificing elements of the service OBM customers have come to depend on.
"We were pleased that so many industry leaders were willing to work with us on developing our plan,” Petracek adds. “The open dialogue we established will ensure that this transition goes smoothly. It also sets us up for future conversations to continue to improve PPI Pulp & Paper Week.”
