PT. Rejeki Adigraha, an Indonesia-based plastics recycling company, has replaced the manual sorting of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and PVC (polyvinyl chloride) flakes with German company Sesotec’s automated sorting technology.
"With the flake purifier multisorting-system, we have achieved a clear increase in efficiency,” says Dede Indrapurna, chief technology officer at PT. Rejeki Adigraha. “The quality of recycled plastics is guaranteed at highest levels and without any quality fluctuations.”
The company says its recycling process begins with plastics from residual waste and plastic flakes containing 70% PVC and 30% other plastics, mainly PET. The material is first shredded, then washed and dried. Next, the flake purifier multisorting-system separates PVC.
The Flake Purifier sorting system was specifically developed for applications in the plastics recycling industry, according to Sesotec. The specially adapted small conveyor ensures the plastic flakes are optimally singularised. In addition to the sensors for metal and colour separation, Sesotec also provides a high-performance module for the detection of contaminations.
