At the company’s Canton, Ohio, yard PSC has purchased a Wendt 106 Heavy Shredder, which, when operational later this year, will replace an older 960194 Hammermill shredder.
The company also announced that it installed a Sennebogen 835 R-HD Crawler Crane, with a Genesis XP700 R shear late last year.
Additionally, the company has purchased a stationary Sennebogen 835 Special Pedestal.
Two downstream solutions at the Canton yard, once on line, will focus on both ferrous and nonferrous scrap. The ferrous system consists of two 60- by 84-inch Steinert Axial Pole Mags, a 72-inch wide Z Box and dual 60-inch wide picking conveyors.
The nonferrous stream solution will include a Tumble Back Feeder, Square trommel Bivitec Screen, three Wendt eddy current separators and a 96-inch Wendt/SSE Finder.
These upgrades are expected to enhance the quality, density and cleanliness of the company’s finished product.
Other improvements at the Canton yard include paving new areas for more parking and adding two railroad spurs.
The company also announced that it installed an 835 M Rubber Tires crane late last year at its Cleveland scrap operation.
The new equipment follows the company’s plan, begun in late 2004, to upgrade the company’s various facilities.
Since announcing the enhancement, the company has refurbished the former M. Cohen barge dock in Nashville, Ten. It also purchased the Gadsden, Ala., Iron and Metal Co., a feeder yard for the company’s Southeast operation; and expanded its operations in Knoxville, Tenn., and Bowling Green, KY.
