PSC Meals announced that it has purchased Gadsden Iron and Metal Co., a scrap recycling facility located in Gadsden, Ala. The facility will be used as a feeder yard for PSC’s facility in Chattanooga, Tenn, where PSC operates a mega-shredder.
The 10-acre site includes a portable baler-logger.
Dan Whittenburg, manager of PSC’s feeder-yard network, said, “As a source of quality scrap for years Gadsden is an ideal location for us as we expand across the Southeast. It enables us to transport scrap easily and economically to our Chattanooga mega-shredder.”
The acquisition was completed the middle of last month. A spokesman for PSC says the acquired company will change its name to PSC Metals.
The company does hope to invest additional capital into the facility to upgrade the operation, as well as increase the employment at the yard.
The company also hopes to increase the acquisitions in the Southeast to assist in feeding the company’s operations in the Tennessee area.
