Proton Data Security, Miami, Fla., has introduced the T-4 degausser, which the company says complies with Department of Defense requirements for destroying classified information on magnetic media and is pending NSA (National Security Agency) evaluation.
The unit features an effective magnetic field (EMF) of up to 40,000 gauss and 13,000 Oersteds and is capable of degaussing hard drives with densities exceeding three terabytes, according to Proton.
The T-4 can be operated on a table top or on the floor and weighs 128 pounds.
