PreZero US’ CoreFilm receives recycled-content certification

Los Angeles-based PreZero US Inc. has received UL (Underwriters Laboratories) UL 2809 ECV for using 100 percent postconsumer resin (PCR) in its CoreFilm product line, which consists of A & B grade postconsumer low-density polyethylene produced at its plant in Jurupa Valley, California. 

The UL certification is endorsed by the Association of Plastics Recyclers (APR), Washington, and conforms to the ISO 14021:2016 standard for environmental claims. PreZero says it chose UL to certify its resins because of its familiarity within the industry and the assurances that it would provide buyers as a globally trusted certifying body.

California’s SB270 mandates that all grocery bags distributed in the state use at least 40 percent recycled content. Additional states have proposed or enacted similar legislation as well. The UL certification of PreZero’s CoreFilm communicates to manufacturers, brand owners and retailers that they are producing a high-quality product that contains true postconsumer material and complies with the current state regulations and with ISO and APR definitions, according to the reprocessor.
