The Bladen, N.C., County Board of Commissioners has unanimously approved a two-year service agreement with Pratt Industries for the supply of mixed waste recycling. Pratt’s Fayetteville, N.C., facility has agreed to accept all the county's recyclable materials and will pay Bladen County $10 per ton. The mixed waste will consist of glass, mixed paper, plastics, aluminum and steel cans, and paperboard and cardboard. The agreement comes after the county’s previous vendor, Bryant Recycling, which signed a three-year contract last September, filed bankruptcy protection. According to local reports, last month, the owner of that business notified the county that his firm would be unable to continue to honor the contract. The county will haul the solid waste to Fayetteville in recycling trailers that were purchased with a grant from the N.C. Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance.
