Prague recycling conference explores Asia's future

Restrictions put in place at first by China and now by neighboring nations will be a leading topic at the 2018 Paper & Plastics Recycling Conference Europe, which is Nov. 6-7 in Prague.

The first two sessions at the event, organized by the Recycling Today Media Group, will be devoted to the market turbulence created by drastic changes in trading patterns that have taken place in 2017 and 2018.

The opening session, The Challenge of Change, includes a presentation from a guest speaker addressing methods and philosophies companies and organizations have developed when massive, disruptive change hits their sector.

That session also includes a discussion among industry executives on changes roiling the market, including Asia’s trade restrictions for recyclables as well as industry consolidation and geographic realignment within Europe.

The conference’s second session on Tuesday is titled An Uncertain Future in Asia. Panelists at this session discuss how import restrictions for scrap materials in China and the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region are changing the nature of trade between recyclers in Europe and buyers in Asia.

Presenters and panelists at the second session include Farah Hamarani of United Arab Emirates-based Paper Chase International and Renhui Li, a trader with Germany-based TL Import-Export Handels GmbH.
