An agreement to enable Porsche Cars GB Ltd to comply with European Union regulations on the disposal of end-of-life vehicles has been signed with vehicle recyclers Autogreen.
The End-of-Life Vehicles (Producer Responsibility) Regulations 2005 make manufacturers responsible for establishing a nationwide take-back network for qualifying end-of-life vehicles at no cost to the last holder, and for their environmentally-friendly disposal.
By January 1, 2006 car makers must have in place an operational take back network, and by January 1, 2007 must take back all qualifying vehicles.
Autogreen has signed a comprehensive 10-year agreement with Porsche Cars GB Ltd to provide a full, free service for owners who eventually wish to dispose of their cars.
Although newly founded, Autogreen is composed of professionals who have been in the vehicle dismantling and disposal business for many years. By working with Autogreen, Porsche Cars plan to have up to 250 approved sites around the UK for their last owners to take back their end-of-life vehicles to.
With the 250 locations around the country, there will be a Porsche Autogreen ATF within 30 miles of the vast majority of vehicles. Should an ELV be outside this catchments area, collection of the vehicle will be offered.
