PolyQuest Inc., a distributor of virgin and recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resins, has announced plans to expand its Darlington County, S.C., recycling and distribution facility. The company, headquartered in Wilmington, N.C., plans to invest $8 million in its Darlington distribution facility, which should result in the addition of 20 new jobs.
“We are pleased to continue our expansion efforts in South Carolina, and more specifically Darlington,” says Brad Dutton, vice president and GM of PolyQuest. “The cooperation and aggressive posture of the state, county and private sources have helped to make this possible.”
According to the announcement from the Darlington County Economic Development Partnership, PolyQuest will add 25 acres of land with an 80,000-square-foot building to its current facility. The company also will add more recycling equipment and a rail spur at the site.
The facility will provide 25 million pounds of additional capacity annually for recycled PET. The company says it expects full production to start by January 2012.
The expansion will increase the facility’s size to 300,000 square feet and will provide total recycled plastic capacity of 120 million pounds per year.
