Z³omrex, a Polish scrap metal company which, earlier this year, unexpectedly withdrew from its plans to debut on the French stock exchange, is in merger talks with the Polish steel company Huta Batoryl.
According to the Warsaw Business Journal, Z³omrex tried to take over Huta Batory, but its plans fell apart when Roman Karkosik, the fifth richest Pole, acquired the steel mill. Z³omrex's president, Przemys³aw Sztuczkowski, revealed that he is currently in talks with Karkosik. "[The talks] concern the attempt to merge Huta Batory with Z³omrex.
In return for the steel mill, Karkosik could take over Z³omrex shares," explained Sztuczkowski. He added that Karkosik could take over around 10 percent of the company's shares.
