Platts McGraw-Hill Financial has selected the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Chicago as the host venue for its 12th annual Steel Markets North America conference. The event, which Platts says will provide a steel market outlook as well as information on demand trends and international competition, is March 14-15, 2016.
The conference’s program takes place throughout the day Monday, March 14, and continues into the morning of Tuesday, March 15. Among the topics being discussed by the event’s speakers and panelists are:
- the state of the steel industry;
- ferrous scrap in North America;
- China’s impact on North American steel markets;
- steel demand outlook in North America; and
- new directions and advances in DRI technologies and economics.
Among the speakers scheduled to part of the event's program are:
- Mario Longhi, CEO of United States Steel Corp.;
- Timna Tanners, a managing director with Bank of America Merrill Lynch;
- Bill Ferara, director and lead analyst for downstream metals at Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services;
- Lynn Lupori-Gray, a consultant with Hatch Associates;
- Rich Brady, executive vice president with OmniSource Corp.;
- Peter Meyers, a vice president with Metalico;
- Brian Taylor, an editor with the Recycling Today Media Group;
- Nicole Leonard, an energy analyst and project consultant with Bentek Energy; and
- Bill Hickey, president of Lapham-Hickey Steel.
Platts says it has invited and is lining up more speakers including additional industry executives and analysts from financial and investment institutions.
