The Canadian firm Plastiques Wolinak Inc., Wolinak, Quebec, has received $200,000 in funding under Canada’s Community Adjustment Fund. The money will go toward purchasing equipment that will allow it to manufacture recycled plastic products, according to the company.
The company, managed by the Abenaki Band Council of Wolinak, in partnership with private contractors, has been in business since 2004. Plastiques Wolinak specializes in the production of plastic injection molding. The company purchases recycled plastics as a raw material. Additionally, the company uses recycled cardboard for packaging.
The funding will allow Plastiques Wolinak to develop a prototype for a mold that the company says will allow it to manufacture a new product made entirely of recycled and recyclable plastic materials for use in the laying of ceramic tiles. Ninety-five percent of the output of this new product will be destined for export markets.
