Trex Company, Inc. has agreed to participate in a joint venture plastics recycling operation in Spain. The project will be called Denplax, SA. The facility will recycle polyethylene. Other partners in the project include a Spanish company and an Italian equipment manufacturer.
According to Trex, the initial construction is complete and the recycling plant is operating on a limited schedule.
The plant is designed to recycle waste polyethylene generated primarily from agricultural applications. The advanced cleaning system employed in the facility produces polyethylene suitable for use in Trex's wood-polymer lumber manufacturing process. When fully operational, the plant will generate more than 20,000 tons of recycled plastic annually. Under the joint venture agreement, Trex has exclusive right to 100% of the plant's production.
