The Plastics Industry Association (Plastics), Washington, has engaged executive search firm
Last week, Plastics held its first officers' retreat and strategy meeting without former President and CEO Bill Carteaux, who died in December, to discuss the association’s goals for 2019.
Wylie Royce, Plastics chairman and partner at Royce Global, outlined the goals to identify, hire and transition a "worthy" successor to Carteaux. Other top goals include continuing to develop and promote outreach initiatives such as “This Is Plastics” to turn plastics employees into ambassadors for the material and to dispel negative myths.
Also high on the list came funding and participating in programs that aid in sustainability efforts and development, helping to educate key audiences about the sustainability and safety of plastics and supporting and creating programs that help the industry promote employment and educational opportunities in the plastics industry.
Royce, chairman of the Plastics search and selection committee, says the committee is working to develop a “rigorous and in-depth” protocol that will be used in the search and selection of the next Plastics president.
Royce also reiterates the officers’ unanimous support of Interim President and CEO Patty Long.
