Plastics Forming Enterprises (PFE), a consultant on plastic packaging recycling, has relocated operations to Merrimack, New Hampshire. The company attributes the move to the rapid growth of its business.

According to a news release from PFE, the company tripled its number of employees over the last three years and needed to expand. The new facility is more than 13,000 square feet and will allow PFE to grow in capacity and capabilities by allowing PFE to perform a broader range of testing for clients more quickly.

The company says its new testing and processing capabilities can accommodate all packaging types, including polyethylene terephthalate, or PET, bottles and thermoforms and rigid and flexible polypropylene- and polyethylene- -based packaging. Clients will receive an assessment of how their packaging performs in the recycling system and in end-market applications.

The move also represents a return to the city where the company’s traditions began. Merrimack is where founder Louis Tacito developed a PET recycling process for beverage bottles returned through the newly implemented state bottle bill system 40 years ago. The company says his work on recycling while at the CPET Division of the Continental Can Co. in Merrimack laid the groundwork for the services PFE would eventually offer clients from around the globe.

“The move is a new chapter for PFE and equips us to continue to support the growing needs of the plastic packaging industry, but it also harkens back to our roots,” says Kristi Hansen, president of PFE. “There’s a symbolism about the circularity of bringing the company back home to Continental Boulevard that further reinforces the exciting direction of our growth.”

PFE says it looks forward to hosting a series of open house events for clients and industry partners as soon as is reasonably safe for visitors and staff. For updates on open house events, contact PFE at info@plasticsforming.com.
