Hilex Poly Co., LLC has broken ground on a $13 million facility in North Vernon, Ind., that will reprocess used plastic bags into new ones, the first of three that Hilex plans to build in the United States. The company has also announced an aggressive recycling program that will educate the public and encourage consumers to recycle their plastic bags.
"The new facility will enable grocery stores and retail outlets to provide their customers with an environmental promise -- that, when returned, the plastic bags they use to carry out their purchases today will be made into new bags they can use tomorrow," says Rex Varn, president and COO for Hilex.
Hilex, headquartered in Hartsville, S.C., has seven manufacturing facilities in the U.S.
