The Plasticity Malaysia event, taking place Oct. 25 at the Ritz-Carlton in that nation’s capital Kuala Lumpur, will feature several presentations on the topic of plastic sustainability and recycling.
The event’s one-day program includes appearances by what organizers call “influential leaders and progressive thinkers” from the plastic manufacturing and recycling industries and from brand owners in the retail and consumer goods sectors.
Among speakers on the schedule are:
- Ben Jordan, senior director of environmental policy for the Coca-Cola Co.;
- Ellen Jackowski, global head of sustainability, strategy and innovation for HP;
- Dr. Steve Wong, the founder and managing director of Hong Kong-based plastics recycling firm Fukutomi Ltd., who also is the president of the China Scrap Plastics Association;
- Professor Edward Kosior, managing director of London-based plastics recycling firm Nextek Ltd.; and
- Doug Woodring, a Plasticity organizer and managing director of the Hong Kong-based Ocean Recovery Alliance.
The event’s organizers also indicate the Malaysian government “has shown considerable interest in Plasticity Malaysia, with a number senior ministry people [scheduled to be] in attendance.” That includes Malaysia’s Minister for Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change, Yeo Bee Yin.
