Davis-Standard LLC has announced it will host a workshop titled “The Basics of Plastics Extrusion,” Oct. 6-7, 2015, at its headquarters in Pawcatuck, Connecticut.
The company describes the course as a “comprehensive two-day class [that] will cover the fundamentals of plastics extrusion, as well as the composition and properties of various polymers and the mechanics of essential downstream processes.”
Davis-Standard's equipment includes reprocessing and extruding machines designed to handle recycled polystyrene (PS), polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) plastics.
Seminar topics in October include extruder components, temperature control, maintenance and extruder screw design.
In addition to instruction, course participants will tour Davis-Standard’s Technology Center and manufacturing facility and will have access to polymer process engineers and technical specialists, the company says.
The fee is $750 per person with a 10 percent discount given for individuals who are part of groups of three or more. Course books and materials are included, and the class size will be limited to promote student-teacher interaction, according to the company.
Davis-Standard designs, develops and distributes extrusion and converting technology, encompassing more than 10 product lines. Its product line’s applications include the agriculture, automotive, construction, health care, energy, electronics, food and beverage packaging and retail industries. The company has manufacturing and technical facilities in the United States, China, Germany and the United Kingdom.
