The Progressive Bag affiliates (PBA), a division of the American Chemistry Council, is launching three recycling partnerships that are geared toward promoting the recycling of plastic bags. The campaigns are being introduced around Earth Day celebrations in April.
On April 14, Temple University, Philadelphia, and the PBA partnered with Keep Philadelphia Beautiful and the Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association to launch the citywide plastic bag recycling education campaign that it is calling “Bring It Back Philly.”
On April 20, the PBA and King County, Wash., will join city and school officials in the “Bag Your Bags, Bring ‘Em Back” collection challenge at a local elementary school.
Also in April, the FBA will start a plastic bag recycling campaign in Florida. The campaign, being called “A Bag’s Life,” is a community-based public education campaign designed to increase awareness of the growing number of convenient opportunities to recycle plastic bags and wraps in the state.
Last year, the PBA announced a recycling goal of 40 percent recycled content in all plastic shopping bags made by the companies by 2015.
