Placon, Madison, Wisconsin, a company that designs and manufactures rigid plastic packaging, has announced that EcoStar, a Placon company, has launched a new plastics website, www.ecostarplastics.com.
Among the features on the site is a PET 101 section that provides educational information geared toward the benefits of thermoforming postconsumer polyethylene terepthalate (PET) for packaging and recycling.
EcoStar’s facility reclaims, recycles and extrudes postconsumer recycled (PCR) roll stock from curbside collected PET bottles and thermoforms the material for new thermoforming applications. The company says it recycles more than 1 billion curbside collected plastic bottles and thermoforms per year.
The new website showcases the company's 100 percent recyclable range of PET roll stock options, which includes up to 100-percent-high-clarity PCR PET for thermoform food, retail and nonsterile medical trays, clamshells and blister applications.
“The eco-minded consumer is interested in what their packaging is made out of, and more importantly, whether it is sustainable and recyclable," says Laura Stewart, vice president of sales and marketing. “The new site is intended to help educate brand owners and their customers on the importance of using and recycling postconsumer PET thermoformed packaging.”
"We wanted to build a site that our customers can use to inform and educate their end users on why post-consumer recycled PET is a responsible material choice for packaging as well as the value in recycling the packaging for continuous reuse," Stewart continues.
