Pennsylvania recyclers are invited to apply for the 2002 Waste Watcher Awards. The deadline to apply is Jan. 31.
"These awards recognize public and private efforts across the state that meet or exceed the Commonwealth's goals for recycling and waste prevention," DEP secretary David E. Hess said. "To reach our recycling goal of 35 percent by 2003, we must continue to work together, showing again why Pennsylvania is a leader when it comes to recycling."
The awards will be presented to programs that meet or exceed specific criteria. Anyone in the recycling industry in the public or private sector is eligible to enter. Waste Watcher categories include: Waste Reduction; Reuse; Recycling; Recycling Market Development; and Education Program.
The awards are sponsored by DEP, the Public Recycling Officials of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association. The awards will be presented in March.
