The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has fined Knorr Contracting Inc., Montour Township, PA, $2,000 for violating state air quality regulations last May.
Knorr improperly operated a stone crushing and screening machine. A DEP air quality inspector saw the machine operating last May with no water connected to the machine’s water spray dust suppression system, causing excessive fugitive dust emissions.
Knorr Contracting failed to apply to DEP for air quality plan approval to operate the machine, as required by state air quality regulations.
The $2,000 was paid to the state’s Clean Air Fund, which finances air quality improvement projects throughout the commonwealth.
