Stacy Schlaner, grants administrator for the county’s Department of Community and Economic Development, said that the tentative date is March 30-April 1, and the vendor that will be working with the county is AERC Recycling Solutions.
The county is attempting to find a location in the county to conduct the collection program. Depending on the success of the program Northampton County may have the collection program on a more frequent basis.
For a fee, residents will be able to dispose of cell phones, microwaves, televisions and related items. Some parts, such as plastics and glass, will be recycled, while portions such as lead that can pollute the environment will be disposed of safely. The charge for county residents range from $.75 per pound for batteries to $5 for television sets and copier machines.
