PC Recycler, Chantilly, Va., has expanded its fleet of data destruction equipment to include a LM-4 degausser from Lincoln, Neb.-based Data Security Inc. The LM-4 degausser will allow PC Recycler to destroy data faster and to increase the volume of hard drives or data tapes it destroys each hour, according to the company.
“The addition of the LM-4 to our fleet of data destruction equipment will allow PC Recycler to continue our commitment to providing our clients with the fastest, most reliable means of destroying data,” says Jeremy Farber, PC Recycler president. “This state-of-the- art technology give us a competitive advantage, and we look forward to bringing the LM-4 degausser out to our clients’ sites to see the benefits that this machine provides.”
With the degausser, PC Recycler will be able to:
- Destroy 1,800 hard drives or data tapes per hour, minimizing the need for additional resources for media sanitization;
- A NAID- (National Association for Information Destruction-) certified method to destroy data that also meets NSA (National Security Administration) and DoD (Department of Defense) requirements for purging classified information;
- Complete destruction of data on backup LTO and DLT tapes, VHS tapes, cassettes and reel-to-reel tapes and other magnetic storage devices; and
- Renders media unusable by damaging and removing the servo data; thus, data can no longer be read from or written to the magnetic device.
