The French recycling company Paprec announced that it has recently acquired Sophed Santiard, based in Marseille, France, a company that specializes in transportation and recycling. According to a Paprec news release, the new facility allows the company to strengthen its business in the PACA region of France.
Paprec, which says it is the largest independent recycling company in France, operates 50 facilities throughout the country.
The acquisition of Sophed-Santiard follows Paprec’s purchases of Interseroh, ISS Environment and Swiss Lottner, all made during the last half of 2010 .
Santiard, which began as a company involved in transporting equipment for the construction and public works industry, created Sophed nearly 25 years ago to target the collection and processing of construction and demolition waste.
"I am pleased to welcome Sophed - Santiard within the group and thus extend our territorial network at Marseilles, and more specifically on waste sites,” says Jean-Luc Petithuguenin, CEO and founder of Paprec Group. “I am confident that this acquisition, which complements the work developed by our subsidiary NCI Environment, we will offer new services to our customers and especially to local communities in the region."
Pascal Mettey, CEO of Sophed – Santiard, noted that being acquired by such a large French company will allow the company to increase its expertise in the area of C&D recycling.
