PRC India: The future in mind

Veteran trader Ranjit S. Baxi debuts his book “Recycling our Future” in India.

Ranjit BaxiRanjit S. Baxi, managing director of J&H Sales International, London, debuted his 2014 book Recycling our Future for readers in India at the 2015 Paper Recycling Conference India event.

At the conference, held in New Delhi in late January, Baxi offered presentations at two different sessions and also was available to sign copies of his book for attendees.

Baxi, current treasurer of the Brussels-based Bureau of International Recycling (BIR), covers a variety of topics in his 153-page book, which is available from United Kingdom-based Whittles Publishing.

Baxi addresses what he considers to be myths regarding recycling and makes several suggestions concerning the role of government, consumers and business leaders in enabling recycling to flourish.

Financing solid waste and recycling infrastructure in developing nations represents one of the best investments to be made in resource conservation, Baxi writes in his book.

In the developing world, “Increasing urbanization, increasing consumption, increasing demand for books, schools and hospitals all mean increasing waste, but the infrastructure and basic services are struggling to keep up or, worse, are being neglected,” writes Baxi in Recycling our Future.

Paper Recycling Conference India was held Jan. 29-30 at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi.
