The speaker and panelist roster for the 2022 Paper & Plastics Recycling Conference Europe event has taken shape, and the mid-November conference features speakers and panelists from more than a dozen countries.

Nations represented on the 2022 roster include Belgium, France, India, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States

The two-day conference, taking place at the Rotterdam Hilton on Nov. 15-16, offers networking opportunities scheduled before and after seven sessions covering topics of vital interest to collectors, processors, traders and consumers of plastic scrap and recovered paper.

Sessions focusing on the global and European paper and board industry feature representatives from Ireland-based Smurfit Kappa Group, Norway-based Norske Skog, Sweden-based Ekman Group, Switzerland-based VIPA Group, United States-based Sonoco, and several other companies with a major presence in the global sector.

Other sessions will cast the spotlight on the packaging sector and on the future of plastic in a shifting regulatory landscape. Viewpoints from plastics recycling companies in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Latvia will be among those featured at Paper & Plastics Recycling Conference Europe.

Europe’s trade with the other continents has long been a leading topic of discussion at the event, and the opening session on Tuesday, Nov. 15, will examine that topic closely. Offering viewpoints on the future of the cross-border trade in recyclables will be: Dr. Andreas Krawczik of Remondis Netherlands, who also is a board director with the Brussels-based European Waste Management Association (FEAD); and Ulrich Leberle, raw materials director of the Brussels-based Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI).

Cross-border trade also is the focus of the “Walls and Bridges: Trade in The 2020s” session later Tuesday. Panelists at that session—hailing from Belgium, Switzerland and the United Kingdom—will review and examine the regulations and freight conditions reshaping where recovered fiber and plastic scrap is flowing within and beyond Europe.

Other sessions have been designed to provide additional insight into how Europe’s recyclers are addressing supply challenges and trade barriers in 2022 and beyond.
