The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) has reported that June 2010’s domestic consumption of recovered fiber weighed in at 2.6 million tons, a 6 percent increase from the June of 2009. June’s consumption figure is essentially flat from the month of May 2010.
For the first six months of the year, domestic recovered fiber has increased by 8.2 percent compared to the first half of 2009.
While domestic use increased, the AF&PA reports that recovered fiber exports declined by 2.5 percent for May compared to the prior month. For the first five months of 2010, exports are flat in comparison to the same period from last year.
