Paper Conference Continues to Add Speakers

Conference will touch on many top issues for paper recyclers.

The upcoming Paper Recycling Conference and & Trade Show has added a number of additional speakers to its roster. At the same time, the program conference reports that the exhibit hall has been sold out.

Why such interest?

For starters, the conference is the only show that is dedicated exclusively to the paper recycling industry. While other shows may cover paper recycling issues in the overall context of a recycling-related program, this three-day conference is geared only to paper recycling issues.

The conference will be held in Atlanta June 27-29. This will be the second year the conference has been scheduled for Atlanta; this year’s show will be the fifth year for the conference.

While sessions will continue to provide valuable information for the paper recycling industry, several new areas will be included in this year’s program, making it an even more valuable program.

Probably the most important new change for this year is the addition of a technical track. This track, put together by the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry, will touch on more of the technical issues confronting paper mills.

Another new component for this year’s conference includes a plant tour of Pratt Industries’ recycled paperboard mill in Conyers, Ga. The recycled board mill has had outstanding success with producing high quality recycled board products.

Also highlighted during this year’s conference are two workshops, conducted June 27, the  first day of the program. One workshop will be an interactive look at how paper recyclers and paper and paperboard mills can maximize their transportation options. This workshop includes representatives from the truck and rail industry.

A second workshop will look at pricing for recovered fiber. This session will be conducted by Bill Moore, with Moore & Associates (separate registration is required for this workshop). This workshop will look at pricing trends, hedging, and other paper pricing related issues.

As for the sessions themselves, some of the companies who have agreed to speak at this year’s show includes top executives from the following: Georgia-Pacific, Kappa Packaging, SP Newsprint, Abitibi-Consolidated, SCA, Van Dyk Baler, America Chung Nam, Weyerhaeuser Paper, Solvay Paperboard, FCR, Friedman Recycling, Tri-R Recycling, and the National Recycling Coalition.

Along with the three days of sessions, there will be plenty of time for networking opportunities, and developing new contacts. There also will be a number of receptions and other avenues to maximize business opportunities.

Further, this year’s show has been attracting a wide range of executives from companies outside North America.

For those looking to extend their business to this new area the Paper Recycling Conference & Trade Show is the place to be. And, at a cost of $345 to attend, the program is one of the best values for recyclers (discounts available for members of either the PSI or TAPPI)
