Panhandle Converter and Scrap Co., a Dothan, Ala.-based catalytic converter recycling and nonferrous processing company, has purchased a new building in Dothan that will allow it to relocate its catalytic converter recycling business. The company says the move also should boost the number of catalytic converters it will be able to process.
Panhandle has purchased a 120,000-square-foot facility with rail access on roughly 14 acres of land. The company plans to move into the new facility by early March.
Panhandle says in addition to relocating its catalytic converter business it will add ferrous processing services at its existing location.
Lyle Peluso Jr., Panhandle COO, says the new location will allow the company to recycle 500,000 catalytic converters per year.
The company also has acquired land adjacent to its existing operations to begin ferrous scrap processing operations. The building at the site will be used strictly for nonferrous processing.
The scrap metals division will now be known as Panhandle Scrap and Iron.
Panhandle Converter has been in the recycling industry for more than two decades.
