Palm Recycling’s commercial division has announced that it has become the sole purchaser and supplier of recovered fiber for its parent company, Palm Paper, and its paper mill in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, U.K.
With the announcement, Palm Recycling will control more than 550,000 metric tons of fiber materials per year as well as the management of paper stocks in a move designed to ensure a reliable and constant input of high quality recovered fiber as well as adequate stock levels at Palm Paper’s Kings Lynn mill.
Palm Recycling previously supplied slightly more than 50 percent of Palm Paper’s raw material requirement through its U.K. pressroom partnerships, local authority contracts, recycling bank schemes and direct paper purchasing.
Rick Waterson, Palm Recycling’s commercial director, says, “This has always been a goal for us to supply the entire needs of our parent company’s fiber demands, and we have worked tremendously hard to achieve this position. Apart from the continuity of supply it brings it also has the added benefit of all areas controlled by one central purchasing hub here in Cheshire.”
In a release, Palm Recycling says it intends to further develop is fiber supply chain to secure high volumes of fiber.
Palm Paper, a subsidiary of the German-based Papierfabrik Palm, produces more than 400,000 metric tons of 100 percent recycled-content newsprint per year for the U.K. market. Palm paper says that its mill runs the world’s largest and most powerful newsprint machine.
