Palm Paper Ltd’s King’s Lynn, U.K., paper facility has acquired certification under ISO14001 for its Environment Management System (EMS) after nine months of operation.
The company, a subsidiary of the German company Papierfabrik Palm GmbH, is required to have an effective EMS in place as part of its Environmental Permit. The United Kingdom’s Environment Agency set this as a key objective for the first 12 months of the mill’s operation.
The King’s Lynn facility operates the paper machine with a capacity of 400,000 tons per year. The production is based entirely on selected, hand sorted recycled fiber.
“This is an outstanding achievement for a plant of this size. We have been working with the company to show how good environment management can not only benefit the environment but the business too. Having an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System makes a powerful statement about an organization's commitment to the environment,” says Roy Mantas, an officer with the U.K.’s Environment Agency.
