Holland, Michigan-based recycling company Padnos has acquired three companies: Sam Winer & Co. Inc., Elkhart, Indiana; Howe Auto Sales, Bay City, Michigan; and Grandpa’s Garage, Traverse City, Michigan, and company President and CEO Jonathan Padnos says the strategic purchases enable the company the grow its regional network.

“Padnos looks forward to serving the communities in Elkhart and Bay City while continuing to serve in Traverse City,” he adds.
Sam Winer & Co. will operate as Padnos Elkhart, Howe Auto Sales will operate as Padnos Bay City and Grandpa’s Garage will be consolidated with Padnos’ nearby Traverse City location.
“We look forward to growing our recycling center footprint and providing the great Padnos customer service experience at these new locations," Padnos Chief Financial Officer Ben Irwin says.
Padnos expanded its footprint in Michigan in 2022 with its purchase of Saginaw, Michigan-based B. Clinkston & Sons Inc., a third-generation family-owned company that was founded in 1915. That purchase followed its 2019 acquisition of a location in Howell, Michigan, from the former Regal Recycling Inc., where Padnos installed an auto shredder.
In 2018, Padnos acquired "a significant interest” in Roseville, Michigan-based GLR Advanced Recycling, describing it as a strategic partnership.
Founded in 1905, Padnos is a fourth-generation, family-owned company processing ferrous and nonferrous metals, end-of-life vehicles, paper, plastics and electronics. The company has 30 locations throughout Michigan and Indiana and more than 900 employees.
