PA Awards Grant Money for County Recycling Coordinators

More than 50 counties receive money to help with salary, expenses.

Pennsylvania Governor Edward Rendell has awarded $1.16 million in County Recycling Coordinator Reimbursement Grants to 51 counties to share the costs of salary and expenses for county recycling coordinators.

"My goal in recycling is to both protect the environment and to help create jobs," Governor Rendell said.

DEP Secretary Kathleen McGinty said, "Clearly we are meeting the Governor's objective.  With the support of county recycling coordinators, municipal leaders and the people who choose to put cans, bottles and papers in recycling bins, we will continue to protect our land, air and water; and we will put more people in more jobs."

The County Recycling Coordinator Reimbursement Grants reimburse counties for up to 50 percent of the salary and authorized expenses incurred by county recycling coordinators.
