Pa. Seeks Environmental Justice Advisory Board Members

Members will advise the DEP's Office of the Environmental Advocate.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Environmental Advocate is seeking up to eight candidates to join as full members of the Environmental Justice Advisory Board.

The board’s mission is to ensure the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all of the commonwealth's residents regardless of race, color, national origin or income in the environmental decision-making process.

Members of the advisory board look research the facts surrounding an issue, develop protocols and make recommendations to DEP with respect to the development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations and policies.

Potential candidates should have an interest in environmental justice issues and a background in environmental justice, an environmental field, community financing or community activism.

Interested candidates also should be able to attend the board’s quarterly meetings in Harrisburg. All members of the advisory board are volunteers and do not receive compensation from DEP, though the department will reimburse travel expenses to attend the meetings.
