Oxford Hits Recycling Target

City reports 40 percent recycling rate.

In the U.K., Oxford has hit its recycling goal of a 40-percent recycling rate, according to a report in the Oxford Mail.

The city met its goal in June, having gone from one of the country’s worst performers in recycling to one of the best, according to the report.

The higher rate comes some seven months after the city launched a new recycling collection scheme of fortnightly collection, according to the report.

The collection schedule has met with some resistance from residents who advocate a return to weekly collections.
