Owensville, Missouri, signs contract with Swinger Sanitation

Four-year trash collection agreement includes recycling services.

The Gasconade County Republican, Owensville, Missouri, reports that July 5, 2016, Owensville officials awarded a four-year trash contract to Cuba, Missouri-based Swinger Sanitation to provide solid waste collection services.

Two solid waste contractors submitted sealed bids for the city’s contract. Swinger’s winning bid included a fixed rate of $14 per month over the four-month period and $13 per month for residents older than 65. Swinger also included a 96-gallon tote for once-weekly trash collection and an 18-gallon container for weekly curbside recycling, according to the article.

The contract was decided by a vote of four to zero. The vote necessitated an edit of city Ordinance 1222, which did not cover contracting trash services, City Administrator Nathan  Schauf told the newspaper.

“Swinger will handle the billing,” Schauf said. “Residents will pay the rate the city has established. Swinger will have full authority to disconnect service for nonpayment.”

Swinger will provide residents with information about how to switch over to its services by Oct. 1, 2016, Schauf told the newspaper.
