Oregon Steel Mills has scheduled a one-week temporary curtailment at two of its operating facilities.
The Portland, Ore., plate rolling mill will curtail production on August 5 for seven days. The company’s Napa, Calif., pipe mill will cease operations for six days beginning August 6, resuming production on Aug. 14.
The company's steelmaking facility in Portland will continue to operate.
The reduction in operations is in response to a short-term decline in market conditions for the company's plate products and a lack of sufficient semi-finished materials. An unanticipated delay in the arrival of a shipment of purchased slabs negatively impacted plate supply to the company's Napa pipe mill.
