The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality will be holding a public hearing Oct. 27 to review a proposed waste tire storage site permit for Black Diamond Energy, LLC.
The facility, to be located in Hines, Ore., will be able to store 10,000 waste tires and up to 200 cubic yards of crumb rubber at the facility.
According to the DEQ, the permit stipulates that the facility can handle no more than the above mentioned amount until a time when the department permitted power plant is built on the site.
The public hearing will be held in Burns, Ore.
The DEQ has issued the application a Notice of Noncompliance for storage of more than 5,000 tires inside the building prior to issuance of the permit authorizing the storage, and for installing the tire processing equipment without the required notification to the DEQ.
The facility is located in an industrial zone.
For those unable to attend the meeting, the DEQ will be accepting comments by mail, fax and e-mail. Send comments to Don Bramhall at (541) 388-6146, ext. 227, fax (541) 388-8283, e-mail bramhall.don@deq.state.or.us, or via mail at 2146 NE 4th, Bend, OR 97701.
