The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality is seeking comments on a proposed construction and demolition landfill. The permit restrict he landfill activity to disposal of locally generated C&D waste, and locally generated dry manufacturing wastes that are bulky, heavy and expensive to export for disposal.
The applicant is Randy Fulton, C&B Sanitary Service, a Burns, Ore., company. The facility will be located at the Burns-Hines disposal site in Harney County, OR. According to the DEQ, Fulton maintains a closed solid waste disposal landfill adjacent to the proposed facility.
The permit sought will be for ten years from the date of issue. The permit is a new limited purpose landfill permit. The existing landfill has had litter and fire problems in the past. The permit sought requires additional efforts and immediate response to any litter generated at the site, and prohibits any open burning at the landfill operation.
The deadline for written comments is Aug. 25, 2005. For more information contact Don Bramhall at (541) 388-6146, ext. 227. The mailing address is DEQ, 2146 NE 4th St., Bend, OR 97701.
