The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is seeking comments on the issuance of a standard air contaminant discharge permit to AG Plastic Reclaim LLC.
AG Plastic, which originally applied under the name Agilyx, is proposing to build and operate a pyrolysis energy reclamation facility in Brooks, Ore. The company will produce a synthetic crude-oil-like product from recovered plastic. The feedstock will consist of plastics not feasible for recycling. According to the Oregon DEQ, the feedstock must be pre-screened to remove polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastics. The oil product will be sold to off-site customers.

Agilyx, headquartered in Beaverton, Ore., presently operates a plastics-to-fuel facility in Tigard, Ore.
The new system proposed for Brooks would have the capacity to turn up to 30 tons of plastic into 180 barrels of synthetic crude oil each day. The oil then would be shipped to a refinery in Tacoma where it would be used to make gasoline and diesel fuel.
