Montreal-based Major Wire has introduced its OptimumWire woven wire screen media, which it says provides up to 40 percent longer wear life compared to traditional woven wire of the same diameter.

For recycled asphalt pavement (RAP), Major Wire says stainless steel OptimumWire reduces blinding, particularly in warm weather. OptimumWire also withstands the commonly abrasive properties of recycled concrete and demolition debris, so operators experience added wear life and less downtime when compared to traditional woven wire, the company adds.
OptimumWire is manufactured with a wire opening tolerance of plus or minus 3 percent, so producers can achieve consistent material passing for the screen’s entire life. Each screen is woven with zero tolerance to any type of movement within the crimp or weave, which prevents the wires from rubbing against each other during use, the company says. On larger wire diameters, OptimumWire is manufactured from true hard-drawn wire, Major Wire adds.
OptimumWire is available in a variety of crimp styles, including Major Wire’s Double-Weave for high-impact loads and larger feed sizes, hyperslot, and square and slotted wire. Wire diameters range from .047 inches to .750 inches with openings from .125 inches to 6 inches, according to the company.
