Onyx Launches New Recycling Service

Onyx has launched a simple and cost-effective electrical and electronic equipment recycling service.

As part of ongoing efforts to ensure customers are up to date with new regulations, Onyx is making compliance with the directive as simple as possible, with an easy to use on-line service at www.onyxgroup.co.uk/electrical.

The service is designed to collect, treat and dispose of used electrical products such as computer equipment and fluorescent tubes, which are subject to the forthcoming European Union Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive.

There are two types of service available: Onyx Box and Go arranges for delivery of a transit box designed to hold up to 14 monitors or 20 base computer units, while Onyx Tubecare supplies suitable containers for storage and transport of various sizes of fluorescent tubes, with other containers for items such as mercury lamps, compact fluorescents and sodium lamps available on request. When ready for collection, a call to the help line will result in the waste picked up and taken to a sorting center for recycling and recovery.

Launching the new service, Onyx’s chief executive, Cyrille du Peloux, said: “With these pressing regulations, it is important that we can offer our customers this new service to help them comply with the shift towards producer responsibility and duty of care.”

Onyx is a UK-based waste management concern.
