According to the report, Gerresten has already spoken to Waste Diversion Ontario, which creates recycling programs, and expects a tire program to be approved by the government later this year.
In other Canadian provinces, consumers generally pay a fee of between $3 and $5 on new tires, which is used to recycle the tires when they have reached the end of their useful life.
