OnePlastics expands its capacity with $9 million investment

Ireland-based firm is adding capacity at plants in China and Ireland.

Ireland-based OnePlastics Group says it has expanded its production capabilities with a $9 million (€8.3 million) investment at its Protech Plastics facility in Shanghai and also has announced an upcoming investment to one of its plants in Ireland.

OnePlastics operates several business units, some of which use recycled-content plastic resins in moulding applications and one of which manufactures carts and bins used in waste and recycling applications.

The newest investment will see the facility at Protech Plastics China double in size to 50,000 square feet (4,645 square metres), says the company. The facility currently supplies engineering products to the computer industry.

OnePlastics also has announced that Protech Performance Plastics in Ireland will soon be home to “a state-of-the-art food-grade manufacturing facility with new machinery and automation tools.”

Donagh Murphy, OnePlastics director of operations for China and Ireland, says the multimillion dollar investments in the Protech brand represent an exciting phase in the future growth of its businesses. “OnePlastics Group are driven by becoming a world-class leader in all of the businesses within the portfolio and creating revolutionary products in the sectors we operate in,” says Murphy.

“This investment is key in our aim into building Protech Plastics China into an industry leader in the design and manufacture of innovative plastics product solutions for our clients in the high-tech computer industry,” he adds. “We are building the Protech Plastics China business for future growth and this investment in Shanghai is a sign of our commitment to the plastics industry.”

OnePlastics Group is owned by One51plc, based in Ireland, and consists of six manufacturing businesses and one design office that carry what it calls a global footprint stretching from the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland and China.
