OmniSource, a scrap metal recycler based in Fort Wayne, Ind., has applied for a permit to open an auto recycling facility in Macedonia, Ohio. The property being considered by the company contains two zoning districts, one zoned for limited industrial and a smaller portion that is zoned for general industrial.
The Macedonia Planning Commission decided to table approval at its Dec. 12 meeting. A spokeswoman for Macedonia says the company may reschedule a hearing on the project at an upcoming meeting, possibly as soon as January 2012.
In its initial report the city favored the project, although there were two concerns: the lack of employee parking space available at the site and the need to have proper screening included at the auto recycling plant.
