OmniSource Corp signed letters of intent to purchase the assets of Mercer Co. and Columbia Iron & Metal Co.

The transactions are scheduled to close around the end of April.
Mercer, located in Sharon, PA, is a regional scrap processor founded in 1986. Columbia Iron & Metal is a broker of ferrous and nonferrous scrap metal. The company has offices in Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
Omnisource is one of the largest processors, distributors and brokers of scrap and secondary metals in North America. The company has annual sales revenue in excess of $1.8 billion. It ships more than 6 million tons of ferrous scrap and 700 million pounds of nonferrous scrap.
The company has more than 35 facilities in the United States and Canada.
