Olin Corp. will close its Indianapolis copper plant and take a first-quarter charge in response to lower demand and shifting production, the company said Jan. 10.
The plant employs about 200 people and produces copper and copper alloy sheet and strip products.
Norwalk, Conn.-based Olin said lower U.S. consumption of some of the plant's products and greater capacity at its East Alton, Illinois, plant, have reduced the role of the Indianapolis facility.
Production in Indianapolis will be consolidated within the Illinois plant. Olin acquired the copper plant in 1988.Latest from Recycling Today
